We're going to run through my top tips and tricks of what to wear to your upcoming photoshoot While our goal is to completely and utterly capture the essence of you, it is important we do so in a way that shows you off and doesn't distract from your beautiful features.
As a Kansas City wedding and family photographer, I've curated my top simple tips to ensure your outfit selection is as harmonious, as easy, and as YOU as possible. Let's kick it off:
tip 01
Comfort Over Everything
The cardinal rule (at least for photo attire)! We want you to be as comfortable as possible. Your comfort level will show through in your photos more than you think, so make sure you're comfortable in what you're wearing!
Does your shirt ride up uncomfortably? Forget it. Are you heels tricky to move in? Ditch 'em. Does your sweater keep scratching? See ya.
Find those outfits that feel like 'you' through and through.

Avoid
Matchy-Matchy
Rather than matching, we're aiming for coordination. Here are a few ways you can coordinate best:
1. Consider wearing colors in the same color family (ie: is she wearing warm earth tones? He should too.)
2. Don't be afraid to keep it simple, neutral, or monochromatic!
3. Is someone wearing a patterned or plaid shirt? Take colors from that person's color palette to make sure everyone's outfits are harmonious.

When in Doubt, Wear Earth Tones
Earth tones ALWAYS look good, so when in doubt, peruse those rust reds, earthy greens, soft neutrals, golden hues, you name it. Anything that says 'hmm, that looks earthy to me', go for it.

Avoid
Distracting Patterns
Plaids, dainty florals, those can stay. But any bold or large pattern is better kept in your closet for this shoot! By avoiding distracting patterns, we keep the focus on YOU... not your shirt.

Keep it Simple
When in doubt, keep it simple! Jeans and your favorite plain tee will never look bad. The more simple your outfit is, the less chance of it distracting from YOU!
